Phiya Kushi was born in New York City and was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts. He, together with his siblings, shared the priviledge of growing up in the unique household of their parents, Michio and Aveline Kushi along with the thousands of individuals whom they opened their home to. As a result, Phiya has many friends that are like family around the world and is eternally grateful for the unique childhood that his parents gave him.
Phiya has successfully avoided most animal products, any hospitalizations and all medications, (with the exception of visits to the dentist) his entire life (he is now 50) and attributes this good fortune in health to his mother’s love and caring while he was in her womb and as a growing child and to heeding his father’s teachings.
Being at the core of a worldwide movement, Phiya has consciously adopted his parents unconventional integral macrobiotic approach along with their unwavering commitment to create world peace. His focus in life is to build communities of healthy, happy and inspired people. He is the initiator and main host of Macrobiotic Miracle Free Conference Calls

Hi Phiya- Thank you for sharing such an amazing story last eve! Was so interesting to hear of your upbringing in such detail. I was quite intrigued to learn of your lunches while in school & much more.
I have a question about your Mother. You metioned she recovered from the cancer & got well. Did the cancer stay at bay, or resurface again? What did she ultimately die from?
Thank you again for starting such an inspiring & encouraging support system via your Monday night Miracle conference call!
All the best to you!
Thank you for your kind words! My mother did recover from her cancer but her spine was damaged by the radiation treatments and she lived in constant pain. Eventually she became bed-ridden and, I believe, lost the will to continue to live. It could be said in more poetic terms that she, being descended from a Samurai tradition, had dutifully served her mentor/teachers George and Lima Ohsawa for their cause of world peace. Lima Ohsawa passed way two years prior in 1999 at the age of 100.
Could I ask you for the recipe for beating cancer. Oh and can one eat them fresh or must they be cooks.
Yours Sincerly Estelle
